As a unit, we are proud to represent your children hailing from every letter of the alphabet!  Read on below to learn more about how to contact our team, our professional experiences before working with your community, and our respective educational backgrounds.

Shannon Hazelwood, a native of Rockingham County and proud graduate of Rockingham County High School, serves as current Department Chair and (recently!) an even prouder mother of three beautiful children. An alumnus of UNC Greensboro for an undergraduate degree and a Master's recipient from North Carolina A&T, Mrs. Hazelwood spent several years in the classroom instructing English before her transition to counseling. Leslie Deaton, a Tar Heel born and bred, spent the majority of her lifetime in Rockingham County. She graduated with distinct honors from both her undergraduate alma mater of Chapel Hill and Master's program at UNC Greensboro. Prior to her professional relocation to 180 High School Road, Ms. Deaton served as Executive Director of the Free Clinic of Rockingham County, Inc. for nine years. Beth Knight hails from Southern Virginia and has lived within a stone's toss of Rockingham County for most of her life. Ms. Knight worked at Morehead High School, Old Dominion University, and several other academic institutions, bringing a rich and full perspective to our team. Misty Attaway hails from Rockingham County, and is an RCHS graduate herself. Misty is a proud Appalachian State alumnus, and Liberty University Master's Graduate, and served for several years in the Rockingham County judicial system. Contact Mrs. Attawaway at mattaway@rock.k12.nc.us.

 

Madeline Merrill, a recent graduate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, specifically focuses her time and attention on connecting Rockingham students with opportunities post-graduation.
